So.. last question... are kabbalah and occult studies strictly a thoth thing? I can make those subs of the sub if they strictly apply to thoth No, they're not. They're discrete fields of esoteric study in themselves, and the Thoth brings them in and uses the symbolism and correspondences. I don't know if that helps or hinders you, though...

If anything Thoth would be a sub of them, but now I'm just making your life harder

It does actually.
It'll stay where it is. I have an idea... give me a bit to actualize it.

Personally, I don't see the need for neat subdivsion forums- the conversations will probably wander around in all directions causing the mods to be constantly battling to keep things unnecessarily tidy, when the flow of discussions needs to be free. I would stick with ...
Thoth - Golden Dawn - Alphabets + Kabbalah - Other Esoteric (- a catch all to preserve moderating sanity!)

I'd second this to keep things simple and your Thoth mod can tweak it with you down the line.

Subbing Kabbalah under Thoth will almost certainly cause problems for some people. I don't have any strong feelings either way, but categorizing Kabbalah as a subset of tarot by placing it underneath will be offensive to some traditional Jewish Kabbalah practitioners.
"Esoteric Kabbalah" or "Hermetic Kabbalah" might be a better title for that forum as it attempts to distinguish it from the Jewish practice. The issue of K or Q spelling is not really relevant to the traditional practice as Hebrew doesn't have any equivalent of "Q", nor is it traditionally studied in English.

Maybe ask the Jewish AT members if it offends them? I had assumed that as those forum titles were copied from AT that they were ok with it?

"Golden Dawn & Esoteric Traditions" should cover it. Thanks, Holly.

I'm hoping because it is Kabbalah as applied to thoth tarot it'll be fine, as that seemed to be the primary function at AT anyway. If a second board is needed for kabbalah at large one can be added to the spirituality section. I assure you there was no intention to offend.

I fail to see how it could possibly cause offense. Tarot plays no part in so-called "traditional" Jewish Kabbalah. Any Kabbalist who incorporates Tarot into their practice has already deviated from "tradition."* Why anyone would come looking for non-Tarot Kabbalah on a Tarot forum is a mystery to me. * The frequently used term "Traditional Jewish Kabbalah" is a bit of a misnomer. The Rabbinical/Jewish form of Kabbalah is every bit as much a "construct" as the Hermetic Qabalah. In fact some aspects of the Rabbinical Kabbalah are more modern than the Hermetic variety. It is only by virtue of being Jewish that they are considered by some to be more authentic or more traditional.

Before we go on to debate the intricacies of kabbalah, I'm locking this up. A kabbalah board was added, concerns voiced and addressed
